Deeply expressive and musically gifted young pianist Christina D. Sung, age 15, will present a performance featuring works by a diverse range of composers, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel, Scriabin, and Shostakovich. This complete cycle of the program explores a variety of musical styles, from the Baroque and Classical periods, through Chopin’s romantic passion, to the dramatic virtuosity in the music of Scriabin and Shostakovich. This Forum recital offers a special preview of the repertoire Christina will perform as an official competitor at the upcoming 2026 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, giving audiences an intimate opportunity to experience her interpretations before she steps onto the international stage.
Most recently, Christina has been selected as one of twenty competitors for the 2026 Hilton Head International Piano Competition. She is a recipient of the Chopin Foundation Scholarship and a winner of National YoungArts Award. Christina also won the Steinway & Sons Special Award at the 2024 Kaufman Music Center International Piano Competition. She is a top prize winner at the 2024 Philadelphia International Piano Competition, and the 2023 and 2024 MTNA National Finals. Christina has claimed First Place in numerous competitions, including the Grand Prize in the 11th Edition of the ENKOR International Music Competition, First Prize at the Emory University Young Artist Piano Competition, and the International Keyboard Odyssiad®.
